I keep telling myself that I'm going to stop reading this series, but here I am finishing the third one and already about to start the fourth one. YouTube | Blog | Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | Snapchat warning: Animal Death/Murder I enjoyed this book.though for being part of the Cirque du Freak, there weren't many pages given to the people at the circus. However, despite the romance, the plot of the book shines through. I remember my first time reading this (about 10 years ago) and literally looking away from the book, going, is that it? I wasn't expecting some grand romantic arch.but I wanted a little something other than that this cardboard cutout. After two books of absolutely no love-interest, we finally see Darren Shan take an interest in girls as he meets and befriends Debbie. This quickly becomes a painfully shoe-horned lackluster romance thrown in for the heck of it. However, during my reread, I noticed that it feels like the author wanted to expand the audience by adding in a bit a spice in the form of a love-interest (Debbie). Which, I found equally enjoyable when I was a middle school girl first reading this series. Note series is geared towards boys - action, adventure, blood, guts and gore. We are introduced to the Vampaneze - semi-evil vampires (they are only semi-evil based on their philosophy on killing humans). Crepsley (Darren's guardian/vampire sire) as he tries to suss out who is going on a murder-spree in town.
